Shown on special video screens that line certain escalators in newer tube stations, it depicted Queen Mary suddenly turning into a zombie-like monster, covered in scars, red-eyed and screaming, revealing brown, rotten teeth.
It was used to promote The London Dungeon's 'Bloody Mary' season, who as all good schoolboys know, was the daughter of Henry VIII, and had 300 dissenters put to the stake during her reign.
Only four people actually complained to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) but the objections were strong enough to have it banned.
The ASA said in a statement that: "We considered that the morphing image, and the juxtaposition of a calm face with a very scary one, were likely to startle and frighten young children."
The Asylum solution would be either: a) Stop kids from using the tube (something many commuters would be grateful to hear) or b) just have her wink menacingly. That would be enough to scare the pants off us adults to be honest, and no rotten teeth required.
