Atos Healthcare has the £80million-per-year contract for 7 years to act for Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) to ‘assess’ sick people claiming Employment Support Allowance (ESA).
They have been working to the previous government’s target of pushing 1 million claimants onto Jobseekers’ Allowance, and there are some well-documented abuses of vulnerable individuals such as refusing to allow note-taking or tape-recording of the assessment, failing to report truthfully where the claimant has demonstrated incapacity, inadequate facilities for those who are ill during an assessment, a computer system which gives garbled versions of examinations to DWP and various other abuses.
Atos are animals. They pass terminally ill people as fit to work. It’s an open secret in the medical industry that they’re charlatans and frauds. 40% of Atos’ decisions are appealed, and 95% of the appeals win.

You can be diagnosed disabled by a world-leading specialist and half a dozen experts, but some Atos hack who couldn’t make it as a family doctor will ask you to touch your fingertips together, touch your toes, and promptly say you can do any job. Any.
I hope the ‘people’ who work for Atos get cancer, frankly. It would be funny to see them trying to claim disability benefit at their own personal Atos interview.
Atos are scum. Real evil. A lot of the people they pass as fit end up committing suicide because they are too sick to work and have no income.
