An Evening To Relax & Enjoy Some Deserved Indulgence

(Before It's News)

I spent half the day cleaning house in preparation for tomorrow evening's shindig. After all the harvesting we've been doing, the back deck and patio needed a once over as well. Now there's very little to do tomorrow to be ready for guests. Which is great, because I want to be well-rested.

Its October, and therefore time for Wine & Cheese nights once or twice a month. Tess and Camilla are coming of course, and Robin– it'll be her first night out to just relax in– over 3 years? Something like that. My next door neighbor at White Gables, Joanna, will be coming as well. She's a former Mormon who has only just started getting into wine herself in the last year, and so that just seemed too appropo. Besides, I really would like to have a regular guest on wine nights who is older than me for a nice change of pace. She's still a newbie to wine, but eager to learn more and experiment a bit. She's never really tried different cheeses, though– so this group will bring that to the mix.

I'm really looking forward to this. After all the negativity and struggle over the last 2 months, this feels like a re-set to me. A chance to breathe, celebrate getting through to this point, and hang out in the comfort of my own home. I may not be much for going out like some people, but I know how to host a gathering!

Also-? I admit it, after 2 months without alcohol– I freakin' miss it! =^D

Flares have me on rather strict diet and nutrition guidelines, and some things I have to avoid like the plague– including alcohol. Even a little when I flare exacerbates the symptoms rather obviously. This time around, so close to pulling out of one, I'll be taking it very easy. Still… WINE! WINE! Oh beloved– I want to compose odes to thee!

The cheese deprivation isn't sitting well with me, either. Not that I can't eat it– but I haven't been going out as much, so I haven't been picking it up. My digestion does not do as well without natural cheeses in regular doses. They are made with raw milk and have extra enzymes and beneficial bacteria that do much to help alleviate my I.B.S. issues (and lactose intolerance doesn't seem to be an issue for me with cheese– only with milk or ice cream.) Wine and cheese together seem to re-set my digestion to work right again. Plus cheese is YUMMERS!

Yes– I'm fansquee for this stuff. Sue me.

I just… really need this right now I think. Its been a rough time recently, you know?
