So last weekend I painted for 2 straight days. Goodly enough.
This weekend I cleaned (and I mean the “cracks are scrubbed behind the stove” kind of clean) all day today (Sunday) and will do the same all day tomorrow. Shayla finished up with her old apartment Saturday, so we're behind by a day, but whatever… I'm rather glad it wasn't sunny and mild out this weekend like they originally predicted, that would have seriously bummed me out!
Already we have somebody coming to look at the empty unit tomorrow afternoon, so we want the bulk of it done by then. Every unit gets painting touch ups after people move out, but every 1.5 to 2 years (depending upon the wear on the unit) we have to pretty much just re-paint the entire apartment in that awful off-white cheap apartment bulk paint. Which is why I don't see so much that it matters if people paint their apartment in colors– other than not DARK colors that take tons of re-painting. We end up re-painting anyways, so what's the big difference?
The good news is, all this extra work is getting us extra money. The bad news is– my back totally hates me!
Speaking of which…
I had that talk with Gerick about not ordering me around and pushing me to do things his way or prematurely or whatever. He agreed, and so far he's backed off. In cleaning this last unit, I took the upstairs and he took the downstairs to start– so he couldn't correct me every 10 minutes. Monday, there is far more to do downstairs (painting and such) but I intend to once again divide chores, not follow Gerick's directions. I truly admire his work ethic and his thoroughness, just not his attitude with me sometimes. But it looks like we're back on track. YAY!
