The Aurora TX UFO incident of 1897

The small Texas town of Aurora was once the scene of a little-known UFO incident that, at the time, caused a great deal of commotion in the local area, but has since been practically forgotten in the context of more famous UFO encounters such as those in Roswell, New Mexico.
In short, on a given day in 1897, local residents noticed a silver-colored, cigar-shaped object flying erratically through the air. It eventually crash-landed on a local judge’s land and from it emerged a critically-injured being who died a short time afterwards.

The author states that an army official who was present described the alien passenger as being from Mars, but how he could know this definitively is not clear from the above snippet. Interestingly though, a picture of the being was drawn up based on witness testimonies:
From what we can gather, the alien was buried locally, and all attempts to exhume the body have been in vain.
