(Before It's News)
I found something I didn’t know (a rarity of course) on Page 14 ff. in The Soul of the Marionette by John Gray.
Communist J.D. Bernal [1901-71] was “convinced that science could effect a shift in evolution in which human beings would cease to be biological organisms … human society would be replaced by ‘a Utopia of post-human cyborgs with machine bodies …”
“In a passage in his book The World, the Flesh and the Devil: An Enquiry into the Future of the Three Enemies of the Rational Soul, Bernal [writes] ‘Consciousness itself might end or vanish in a humanity that has become completely etherealized … becoming masses of atoms in space communicating by radiation, and ultimately perhaps resolving itself entirely into light.’”
Gray offers [Page 15] “Similar conceptions inform the vision of the Singularity of the futurologist and director of engineering at Google Ray Kurzweil …[whose book is] The Singularity is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology.”
This is a biological aspect of the Singularity as opposed to the technological [robotic] view of the Singularity presented by Nick Bostrom (and touched on here in previous postings).
(Gray’s book is flush with Gnostic ruminations, which he ties into his presentation about Singularities, et cetera.)
But the Bernal’s idea of cyborg entities, communicating by radiation and resolving into light allows the conjecture that UFOs may be such “etherealized” entities, complimented by AI entities of a technological (machine-like) nature, both stemming from advanced civilizations that have evolved elsewhere and traverse the universe for various purposes.
Mac Tonnies (may he rest in peace) was heavily into the idea of transformational beings, going so far, as you know, to say that UFOs were “manned” by crypto-terrestrials from within or without the Earth – a concomitant species to Earthlings (humans) but evolved along a different path than homo sapiens.
While I found/find Mac’s ideas of a mutually existing race on Earth difficult to accept (as there is no evidence for it, in situ), I do think that the idea espoused by Bostrom (and Bernal), of Singularities having evolved somewhere in the universe to be a possibility.
And what we know as flying disks or saucers and UFOs may be manifestation of such Singularities.
I’ll be providing UFO accounts that seem to indicate Singularities at work.
(I’m scouring Aubeck/Shough’s Return to Magonia and Rosales’ Humanoid Encounters: The Others Amongst Us plus classic sightings/encounters for hints of the Singularity idea I’m currently obsessed with, as noted previously here.)
