I have been incredibly busy since I moved here. I'm trying to pace myself, but it seems like I have a day or two of projects followed by a day or two of recovery, over and over again, because even a little activity like some half-assed yard work or unpacking leaves me… wilted afterwards.
Today's big goal was using some excess room paint from my 2 rented rooms to prettify some cardboard and wood trunks that were once used to ship computer components. The weather is in the upper 70s with slight breezes here– perfect for outdoor painting! So I took those things outside and spent the entire day painting them and taking breaks from painting. It took me all day as I'm not in remission, though I'm not flaring– so basically my typical low-energy low-functioning days where I can do stuff, but it hurts and takes me forever and then I'm exhausted.
Still–! I was pleased with the results. Now they blend in with the rooms I'm going to keep them in and I can store stuff I won't be using as long as I live here (mostly kitchen stuff and dishes). I will be using the tops to put decorations upon, and its just great all around. (I will likely post photos when this seemingly monumental 'rented room readying' is finished.) Again, all rather modest improvements, and on a very strict budget, but I am creating a nice little set of nests in my new home.
I decided to do a dry-brush of spring green paint over my mini glass door cabinet that stores my tiny perfume bottle collection and some cosmetics. It was antique brush painted (a technique for that 'shabby chic' look) a dull off-white, and I really don't like white. So I just lightly added some green to the tops of the inner shelves and the outside and it looks much better. Cleaner and brighter!
All I have left is a little touch-up painting to the tops of the walls of both rooms by the ceiling and I'm DONE with painting! YAAAY!
Next on the agenda– setting up and organizing my file cabinet for important papers, unpacking my CD collection into plastic towers, unpacking my perfume collection into the newly painted cabinet, and unpacking my dragon collection and putting them on display. That should free space in the closet to organize those a little better.
Step by step, inch by inch. I really want this moving in thing to be done by the end of the month!
