(Before It's News)

How prepared would you be in a post collapse situation if the medical establishment we depend on wasn’t there? What would you do if your child broke her leg? What if your wife suffered a gunshot wound during a burglary? What if you badly cut yourself while chopping wood?

You’d need medical supplies that go beyond the standard offerings provided by most medical kits today. Dr. Bones and Nurse Amy have the kind of first aid kits to help you survive the coming collapse.

Before we go any further, let me say up front I get nothing from promoting their medical kits. I had Doc and Amy on as my DestinySurvival Radio guests yesterday because I want you to know what they have to offer. Their kits could save your life.

Who are Dr. Bones and Nurse Amy?

If you’re not familiar with Dr. Bones and Nurse Amy, let me fill you in.

Joe and Amy Alton are the authors of the Number One Amazon bestseller The Doom and Bloom(tm) Survival Medicine Handbook. Dr. Bones is an M.D. and Nurse Amy is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. They’re Preppers and Certified Master Gardeners who bring you traditional and alternative medical strategies for survival in times of trouble.

Nurse Amy is a certified nurse midwife as well, and an expert on herbal remedies and essential oils. She has also written articles on survival gardening and natural remedies for “Survivalist” and “Backwoods Home Magazine.”

Dr. Bones is a contributor to “Survivalist Magazine,” “Backwoods Home,” and “Self Reliance Illustrated.” He’s written a chapter on Basics of Medical Survival for Doctor Prepper’s latest edition of Making the Best of Basics.

They do a weekly podcast called The Doom and Bloom Hour and have over 250 articles at www.DoomAndBloom.net. They’ve been kind enough to let me reproduce articles here occasionally.

They’re in the right place at the right time. For example, their book came about because people complained about payhing too much for ink cartridges to print out their articles. They started putting together first aid kits because people asked them to.

I tell you all of the above to establish their credibility and to let you know they’re professionals who take what they’re doing seriously. They’re providing an immeasurable public service to preppers everywhere. They’re always great guests when they’re on DestinySurvival Radio.

What about their first aid kits?

We started out the show talking about whether you should buy a ready-made kit or put together your own. The answer depends in part on what you anticipate could happen and how long you think we have before you’ll need a serious first aid kit. Do you want to take time to learn as you go when building a kit? Or do you want items available you may not know now that you’ll need?

Doc and Amy have a line of several kits ranging all the way up to $699 in price. That sounds expensive, until you see everything that’s in it, including dental supplies. If you tried buying everything in their kits, you’d spend as much as double the price because Amy buys medical supplies in bulk. I suggest if you want one of their top of the line trauma kits, you split the cost with another family or others in a group you’re part of.

At the lower end of the spectrum is what Dr. Bones calls the hunter-hiker-biker pack. These would be great for each member of your family.Another kit is the mini trauma kit. Watch the video below this post as Nurse Amy explains what’s inside. Each of their kits contain similar materials, but the larger kits obviously have more of each item, plus more specialized medical supplies.

What’s more, you get natural remedies with their kits., particularly the larger kits. Cayenne powder is included in each of their kits for use as a blood clotting agent. Amy has put together a few unique herbal kits. An herbal salve sampler kit is a popular one. Essential oils are favorites, too.

The kits Joe and Amy put together are different than other kits on the market because they’ve designed them as more than emergency kits that get you buy until help arrives. The question comes to mind, What would you need as a non-medical professional if you couldn’t get to a doctor or hospital in a collapse scenario?

They’ve anticipated that need.

The description of each kit on their site includes a list of everything included. When I complimented them on that, Dr. Bones was adamant in saying he sincerely doesn’t care if you buy any of their things. They put out the information so you’ll have it.

Decide for yourself whether to buy one of their kits or make your own. But make use of the kit lists and hundreds of articles on their site. It’s a rich resource.

What about their book?

The Doom and Bloom(tm) Survival Medicine Handbook is a must have item, too. It’s been a steady seller since its release this past January. I’ve featured it previously as a DestinySurvival Amazon Pick. With more than 400 pages, it covers a wide variety of medical topics in plain English. It contains info on natural remedies and herbal options, too.

Where can you find out more?

Hear my interview with Dr. Bones and Nurse Amy when you listen to DestinySurvival Radio for November 15, 2012. As usual, I can only touch on highlights in a blog post.

Go to www.DoomAndBloom.net to view their many articles, watch their videos and download podcasts of the Doom and Bloom Hour. Go to their store to view their selection of medical kits.

Dr. Bones and Nurse Amy believe in connecting with the prepper community, so you’re welcome to contact them at drbonespodcast(at)aol.com. Replace (at) with @ when you type their address. They’re on Facebook and Twitter, too.

Watch the video below for a description of their mini trauma bag. And leave a comment below with any thoughts you have on their first aid kits or book.
