FEMA Operational Briefing (12.18.12)
It seems to me that the Northeast is become the area for disasters, these last 6 to 8 weeks. Hurricane Sandy, Northeasterner storm, Extreme Weather, School shooting and now an Oil spill in Staten Island, NY.
Due to the fact that the area was already had there EOCs and disaster Response Teams active, the spill has been handled or is being handled in a quick and responsive manner. The US Coast Guard is the lead agency on this one.
Solar Weather is low
Earthquake activity is Low
Wildland Fire National Preparedness Level 1
Severe Weather in the New England and Northwest states.
