EXETER, NH --(Ammoland.com)- Max Michel, Jr., SIG SAUER’s competitive shooting champion, got the 2013 season off to a fantastic start with dominating performances at the Florida Open and Texas Open matches.

Michel is off to a dominating start to the season, winning the Florida Open by more than 110 match points and the Texas Open by almost 16 percentage points over the runner up. Michel now begins preparations for the U.S. Steel National Championship, which attracts the world’s best speed shooters.

This year marks the beginning of a big competitive year for SIG SAUER. Already a regular sponsor of shooting matches around the country, SIG SAUER is increasing its already high level of participation. In addition to United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA), Steel Challege, Bianchi Cup, and NRA Police competitions, the firearms manufacturer will also expand its participation in the International Defensive Pistol Association and multigun/3-Gun competitions.

“SIG SAUER is proud to support the whole spectrum of shooting disciplines,” said Jarrod McDevitt, SIG SAUER Rifle Product and Competitive Shooting Program Manager. “The shooting sports are growing stronger every year and we want to help foster that growth in any way we can.”

With the advice of Michel, a multiple-time world champion, SIG SAUER has developed competition specific products as well as designed match-oriented courses at the SIG SAUER Academy.

“Competition, first and foremost, stresses safe gun-handling and marksmanship skills,” McDevitt said. “We fully support any effort that emphasizes these two key components of responsible firearm ownership.”
