The US State Department issued a global travel alert for American citizens traveling for the entire month of August. According to the Friday morning release, State Department officials feel Al-Qaeda terror attacks could be imminent in multiple locations around the globe. The federal agency warned United States citizens against traveling to North Africa and the Middle East in particular.

Terrorism monitoring tactics have reportedly revealed that Al-Qaeda and affiliated groups are planning attacks in both the noted regions and beyond. The terror attacks are expected to be focused throughout the month of August and multiple embassies have been ordered to close. The US State Department travel alert expires on August 31, but that does not necessarily mean Americans traveling abroad after that date are free from danger.
