Arizona–(Ammoland.com)- The draw deadline for Arizona elk and pronghorn antelope hunts is almost here.

Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 by 7 p.m. (MST), is the deadline for applications for the draw for Arizona’s 2014 elk and pronghorn antelope hunts to be received by the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

Submit online applications at https://az.gov/azgfd/draw/home.xhtml (scroll down and click on “Apply for a Draw”). Only VISA and MasterCard are accepted for online applications. Those applying online must still pay the non-refundable $13 application fee for Arizona residents and $15 for non-residents. This fee is charged as part of the application process for both online and paper applications. A portion of these fees is dedicated to habitat, public access and recruitment/retention efforts.

Please note that the online application service does not work with devices such as iPhones, iPads, or other mobile devices at this time.The online draw application service works with these browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari. Safari users should upgrade to the latest version of the OS and Safari browser because problems have been reported with older Safari versions.

If you typically submit a paper application and haven’t yet mailed it, it is recommended you either use the online service or hand-deliver it to one of the department office locations to be sure it is received by the deadline. Postmarks on mailed applications don’t count. Hand delivered applications will be accepted at department office locations until the 7 p.m. deadline on Feb. 11, but front counters will close for regular business at the usual time of 5 p.m. Only personal checks and money orders are accepted with paper applications.

Tips for avoiding mistakes and problems with your draw application:

  • Don’t wait until the very last minute to click “submit” on your online application – unexpected delays and problems are always a possibility;
  • Write down the full names, birthdays and addresses for everyone in the hunting party before logging on to apply for the draw online;
  • Test your printer to be sure it is working right so you can print out your license if you buy it online;
  • You will need a current hunting license or combination hunting/fishing license to apply for the draw. If you don’t already have your license, you can buy it either through: (1) the draw application process (at the same time you are applying for the draw online, or with a paper application); (2) at a hunting license dealer; (3) at any Arizona Game and Fish office; or (4) separately online at www.azgfd.gov/eservices/licenses.shtml. Remember, if you buy your license at a Game and Fish office or separately online (not through the draw process) and are naming your own license start date, be sure your start date is no later than Feb. 11, 2014, as you must have a valid license to apply for the draw;
  • Only VISA and MasterCard are accepted for online applications: be sure the account is current and have the card number, security code, expiration date and billing address in front of you before logging on;
  • Double check the spelling of all names, addresses and birthdays; be sure you have the most current dates and details on the hunts for which you and your party are applying.

The 2014 Pronghorn Antelope and Elk Hunt Draw Information Booklet is available for download at www.azgfd.gov/draw. Hard copies are at Game and Fish offices and at license dealers.
