Anchor Liz Wahl Quits
It doesn’t get much better than quitting your job when you don’t respect your boss but to do it when you are a news anchor live on air is the best. Throw in the fact that this is not just a disgruntled employee but someone who stands up for her political beliefs and it is really unheard-of.
Sure there have been on air disc jockeys that want to get back at their boss and make a stand about management but to make a political stand about the support of a bully government like Russia really never happens. This takes a truly tough and brave person, someone who has the morals and standard that we wish our politicians did.
Liz Wahl had a great job as a female news anchor with a national reach. The only problem was that her newsorganization was government sponsered by the Russians. Lets keep in mind that there are very few jobs like this in the world and to denounce the government that backs her news station id something that no one really can comprehend.
To understand why Liz Wahl would make such a bold and possibly dangerous move to her future career you must understand who Liz Wahl really is. In her resignation she spoke of being from a family who fled to America to escape Soviet forces during the 1956 Hungarian revolution. You see Liz is the daughter of a US veteran and her partner is a physician who works at a US military base. He has seen the effects of war on soldiers and has shared these experiences with her.
In her own words as she expressed why she was quitting Liz said “And that is why, personally, I cannot be part of a network funded by the Russian government that whitewashes the actions of Putin,” “I’m proud to be an American and believe in disseminating the truth,” she added. “And that is why, after this newscast, I’m resigning.”
Talking Wednesday night to CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Wahl said the idea she did this “for personal gain … couldn’t be farther from the truth.” She said she’d “hesitated to speak on this for a while for fear of repercussion,” but decided to act now based on her belief “the propagandist nature of RT (had come) out in full force” over its coverage of the Ukraine crisis.
In light of her decision to make such a public decision to quit in such a dangerous and honest way it make you wonder about our journalists. It has ben a proven fact that our government has done some “not so nice” things in the past but would our liberal media ever makes statements so strong? I can tell you that most of our media today (except for some Fox news reporting) has all but ignored the sloppy, pathetic and destructive actions of our own government.
Sure you can argue that our news is not “state controlled” but is that really true? It makes you wonder why our mainstream media refuses to address the actions of what our government does on a daily basis to destroy the true fabric of what our country was built on. So we are left with the question of the morals of our media or does our government also control their morals? Is our news also state controlled?
