NASHVILLE, Tenn. -(Ammoland.com)- Ben Doerge’s commitment to the National Wild Turkey Federation’s Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative earned him a national award from the organization.
Doerge, of Mexico, Missouri received one of five Roger M. Latham Sportsman Wild Turkey Service Awards at the 41st annual NWTF Convention and Sport Show in Nashville.
Roger M. Latham Sportsman Wild Turkey Service Awards are given to NWTF members who are not employed as professional wildlife managers, but have made significant contributions to wild turkey conservation.
The NWTF determined this year’s award winners based on how their work strengthens the Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. initiative. From serving in his local and state chapters to currently serving as the Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt. coordinator, Doerge has been involved with the NWTF on nearly every level. He helped initiate local 4-H and FFA shooting programs.
He also regularly attends public meetings and offers input on topics that may have an impact on resource management in Missouri.
“Ben’s commitment to our hunting heritage has taken him from serving at a local level to serving statewide and beyond,” said George Thornton, NWTF CEO. “Volunteers such as Ben are an outstanding asset to our organization.”
