Every picture tells a story – right? Well, maybe, once-upon-a-time. Nowadays a picture can tell several stories. With modern technology/software the story a picture tells can be modified, or even changed out of all recognition, mid-narrative: as the tale itself unfolds. And this is most certainly true of the events in Boston: on the occasion of the marathon staged there on April 15.
We have all seen the plethora of images captured by cameras and camcorders at the marathon. And we have all read/heard the ‘official’ story of what those images depict. But – when we examine those pictures closely – does the story match up with what they are showing us? Or has any of the images been modified to tell us a different story: a different version of the events that actually unfolded on the day?
