Al-Nusra Front fighters were ambushed on a road near the Damascus suburb of Adra by the SAA (Syrian Arab Army) forces. Of the 65 Nusra Front fighters, only 3 survived. This is a huge blow both to morale and strategy of rebels forces battling a government offensive in the Syrian capial Damascus.
Apparently these rebels were using a secret road used to get into the Syrian capital. Once discovered, government troops set up an ambush and riddled the Nusra front militants with machine gun fire. Government forces are getting good at these ambushes.
According to another source, at least 48 men of the Liwa al-Islam and the al Nusra Djabhato were killed and more than 30 injured in the suburb of Adra, Loyalist bastion that fighting for months against the rebels.
A recent rebel victory in the year long Siege of Menagh Air Base hasnt been enough to stem the tide rolling in favor of Assad. This ambush only confirms that. Assad definately has the momentum even though the rebels haveabout 60% of Syria under their control and Assad 60% of the population under his control. There is awhile yet before this one is resolved. Stay tuned.. -Mort
