2 Russian pilots survive ISIS attack on helicopter near Palmyra

Five hours ago, Al-Masdar News broke a story regarding ISIS militants downing a Russian helicopter at Huwaysis, northwest of Palmyra city.
Now, the Russian Ministry of Defence has adressed the story, stating that the Russian aircraft was temporarily downed due to technical failure and subsequently struck by an Islamic State ATGM crew, leaving the helicopter destroyed.
A representative of the Russian MoD stressed: “The crew was not injured and was promptly returned by a search-and-rescue helicopter to the Hmeymim airbase”.
