The original clip of mine from 2010 caused quite a stir, here it is replayed in slow motion for a better look. The antler growth is clearly enormous, some call him “broccoli head”, neighbors have seen him too, he remains elusive and on the loose. Why does his rack look like a big mop of hair ? or is it deformed antlers ? a tumor ?

  • It’s a known condition for whitetail deer. Although rare, it is a genetic condition in which the body has no shutoff for horn growth, and they continue to develop randomly. This can cause other problems for the deer as well. I’ve seen it more on game ranches, than in the wild, as deer on game ranches are (how do we say) genetically modified.
