Hi, this is TheCandidConservative with today’s minute…
One of the dangers of becoming a mascot to any cause, party, or person is that once on board; it’s hard to step off. That’s because our identity, loyalty, and ego get tangled in our attachment.
Unfortunately, reality, reason, responsibility, and right get lost in that process. Conservative loyalists might look at their support for Bush’s mammoth Medicare expansion and entanglements in two undeclared boot-on-the-ground wars for mascot evidence.
For a more current illustration of artificial loyalties, take a look at corn-based ethanol. Under current realities we’re subsidizing a product that makes no economic sense and literally takes food from people’s mouths. With our deficits and the world’s hunger, that’s a foolish habit. Unfortunately, Republic and Democrat special interests have converged on ethanol support. The inability to readjust affirms Washington paralysis and the smell of burning mascots.
I’m Dr. Carl Mumpower and you just spent a minute with a candid conservative….
