URGENT – IMMEDIATE BROADCAST REQUESTED
FLOOD WARNING
950 AM PST WED FEB 4 2015

THE NATIONAL WEATHER FORCE HAS ISSUED A FLOOD WARNING EFFECTIVE FOR PARTS OF;

* Central/Northern CA … Western WA/OR …

* Effective through today through early this next week …

A series of strong storm systems with damaging winds and torrential downpours will hit the region from Thursday through early this next week.  The strongest storms are expected to hit on Friday and then again on Sunday.  Each will have damaging wind potential so be very careful near taller trees as the flooding will weaken them.

By far the most impact will be Northern California with a very large area of ‘extreme’ on our map, mapping from Sacramento/Chico through Crescent City for over 5+ inches of rainfall in a short period of time.  San Francisco will see 2-4″ of rainfall in a short period of time.

Some areas in the Willamette Valley will see 1-2″ of rainfall, nearly out Flood Watch criteria due to the moisture ringing out in the coastal range to the west of the area with 3-4+” of rainfall in those areas along the OR/WA Coast.

Seattle is up through 3-4″ of rainfall along the Puget Sound Convergence Zone.  We decided to put Fresno in the flooding zone with 1-2″ of rainfall expected on the southern end of the storm …

Heading to the Sierras?  We don’t have that zone but if you are an extra 2-3 feet of snow will fall at Mammoth Resort, according to our grids!

Thunderstorms are possible with this event, especially west of the Cascades and Sierras.  Those will be addressed 12-24 hours before they hit in other statements if need be.  Some of them may be severe!
