As I meantioned earlier this morning, please make sure you take the proper precautions for staying cool in this heat. If you plan to head outdoors, make sure you are prepared for the high heat. The most important thing to do is to stay hydrated. It’s also necessary to maintain hydration through the day as well so take lots of water with you. Also, remember that many children are out of school for the summer and therefore need to also take the same precautions. Wearing lightweight and light colored clothing if possible and taking regular breaks from the heat can help stay cool.
Now, don’t forget the sunscreen! Applying sunscreen before heading out and reapplying everyone hour or so depending on your activity is key to protecting your skin from the suns harmful UV rays. Try to plan any outdoor activities early on or later in the day if possible. And last but most importantly, NEVER EVER, for any reason, leave children, the elderly or pets in an vehicle alone! It’s not safe to do anytime, let alone when temps are above 70°. There are NO excuses for this! EVER! #ncwx #scwx #cltwx #ralwx ~Pete
