Pay attention people–this drought is for real. It is actually scary. Worst corn production crop I have ever seen in my 30 years as a researcher and agronomist. Hard..er times are up ahead. Soon after fall the harvest starts in Sept/Oct. the realization and the full impact on supply and demand of goods due to a depleted nation's corn/grain suppl,y will impact everything…gasoline supply/cost, food prices and the next election. In the first 25 of my 30 years as ag professional, I never saw corn futures hardly over $2.75 /bu. However, With the ethanol mandate and limited supply, the cash price for fall delivery is nearly $8.00 per bushel right now and rising.
I am sure the tea party coalition and the republican party will be rather silent, since it is farmers who will be asking and seeking for government assistance and not the working poor… The truth is their farming constituents will get Federal and state assistance, while Medicaid, heating assitance and foostamps for the poor will be slashed under the justification of reducing the federal deficient..
