Poring over endless photos beamed back to Earth from the Mars Curiosity Rover is tedious work.
But sometimes it pays off.
In this photo, what looks like some kind of fossilized animal peeks up through eons of sediment to reveal what looks like some kind of mammal brought down in mid stride millions of years ago.
Perhaps, when Mars was still capable of sustaining life?
Whatever it is, a real Martian, or just a trick of the light, it’s just another in a long line of fascinating anomalies littering the Martian soil and vexing millions of sleepless Mars fanatics.
