According to the Portland Press Herald, 375 of the 500 people killed by police in 2012 had a mental disability.
Since 2000, 42 percent of people shot by cops—including 58 percent of those who died from their injuries—in the state of Maine had a mental health issue. Because neither the Justice Department nor virtually any local or state entitities collect data on police shootings regarding the mentally ill, it is difficult to analyze the circumstances of these kinds of shootings without relying heavily on news reports …. http://www.alternet.org

Unfortunately, the mental illness system in this country is broken. Our hospital psych wards have become revolving doors for the mentally ill. Take them in…try to get them diagnosed and medicated properly in a three day period…then out the door they go. Until they come back.
Many self medicate with drugs and alcohol. It is a nightmare that is biting us in the butt for not taking care of it properly. It started way back when Hillary Clinton set out to get us Universal Healthcare. Many psychiatric hospitals were closed…lost funding..etc. (BTW we never did get Universal Health care did we?)
As for police shooting them? Police are not trained to deal with the mentally ill. They are just trained to stop what they perceive to be a threat or aggression. Unfortunately most mentally ill people who are not in their proper fame of mind….are aggressive.
Now if we look at this conspiracy wise…..could be just getting rid of the mentally ill. The Nazi’s killed the mentally ill.
