Last week, I was trying to set up cable and Internet service at home. I didn’t like the price the company quoted me so I just told them I would shop around and call them back if they had the best offer. The technician quickly said, “Well, hold on, let’s see what we can do for you”. Long story short, I ended up getting a special for $35 less than what I was originally quoted. Isn’t it funny how people change their tune when we let them know we can find something better? In many cases, no just simply means yes! This is not to say that we should push the boundaries of people’s personal space or beliefs. But when it comes to saving money, excelling in life and making our dreams come to life, no is not an option. It’s just a speed bump that can be driven over. If I just stopped at yes with the cable company, I would have had to pay more money. But because of my no, they said yes to a cheaper rate.
I’m not sure why it is, but I get a thrill out of someone telling me I can’t do something. If it’s something I really don’t want to pursue I just dismiss it. But telling me no on something I really want????
