“Open your blinds!” Aaagghhh…not again. Why is it so important to open these blinds????
This is what I always remember hearing and thinking growing up. My mom would always remind me to open up the blinds in my room or in the house. It wasn’t that I had anything against opening them, I just didn’t think about it. It’s funny the things we subconsciously remember and act on from years ago. At 27 years old, it feels weird to be at home now during the day and the blinds are closed. Granted, it may take me a while to notice but when I do I open them. Little did I know the underlying reasons why we should all “open our blinds”.
Some of us (including myself at times) have more than just physical blinds to open. In several instances, our blinds are closed mentally too. We put up hard exteriors to avoid people from getting the upper hand on us. This works in terms of not letting other people in, but it also means that we can’t see outside and receive light. Living in darkness does not promote progression.
