I have always wondered about what it is like to be a foot model.
Who are these people? How do they get into it? Do you have to wear special shoes made of cotton wool to protect your feet?
Amsterdam-based artists Lernet and Sander came up with a great concept for an online shoe campaign for 3.1 Phillip Lim, where the focus is not so much on the shoe, but on what the shoe is created to protect—feet!
They interviewed four foot models about how they care for their feet, and about their favorite poses, and featured the audio of their interviews in black and white videos of their feet.We never see their faces, but we hear their stories, and they are actually quite wonderful, funny, and touching.
The videos end with the foot models’ signature pose in the 3.1 Phillip Lim shoes.
It is a quirky perspective, but a charming insight into the world of a foot model.
Feet are funny things, often ugly, often hidden, but I guess somewhere out there, concealed in a pair of shoes, could be the most beautiful feet in the world.
