Yesterday, Chuck Todd on NBC’s Today dolled out grades for the announcements of the current 2016 candidates. Todd was first tasked with critiquing Hillary Clinton – who announced on Sunday – and he gave her a grade of “satisfactory.”
During his grading, he said that the former Secretary of State was trying to distance herself from the other announced candidates (Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, and Ted Cruz) by “trying to not look presidential.”
“You know the irony here is you have a whole bunch of Republicans who are trying to look presidential,” Todd said. “She’s desperately trying to not look presidential.”
If her goal was to “not look presidential,” many might say she has nailed it. In the five days since her announcement, she: avoided the public and spoke to nobody while in a Chipotle in Ohio, parked in a handicap spot while in Iowa, and evaded the press at her first campaign event in Iowa.
Her presidential rollout has been perceived as such a flop that even the folks over at MSNBC are already questioning the authenticity of her campaign. It’s only been five days, and Hillary fatigue is already sinking in.
