Kan-U Gundam: Gigantic Battle Warrior Appears in China
An enormous home-made robot has popped up in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, after three mechanics created it from scrap car parts.
Since the Gundam battle warriors appeared in Japanese animation almost four decades ago, they have conquered planet Earth with fans all over the world.
Toy manufacturer Bandai turned to Chinese history for reference while developing its products. Fascinated by the characters and history of the Three Kingdoms Period (220-280A.D.), a series of SD Gundam robots was produced.
One of the key characters was Kan-U (Guan Yu), a brave general known for his great deeds and moral qualities, whose life personified the true meaning of righteousness.
This export-turn-import Kan-U Gundam is over 32 feet tall, and weighs 10 tons.
It was made by Wang Rong and two other mechanics who took seven months to put together this huge toy.
