(Before It's News)

The action of a sheriff’s deputy almost moved a young Alabama mom to tears.

Rachael Brindley of Harvest, Ala., decided she would help her husband, Ryan, by cutting the grass recently. Brindley, a full-time stay-at-home wife and mother, said she really didn’t mind the task.

“He has been working hard on a work project and hasn’t had time to cut it. It was a nice day out and so I thought I’d help my husband out and cut it myself,” Brindley explained.

The mom didn’t want to leave her four-month old unattended, so she strapped the baby in a front-facing baby carrier while she mowed the grass. Brindley said she grew nervous when a Madison County Sheriff’s officer stopped in front of her yard in his police cruiser. She thought he might have a warning for mowing the grass while carrying a baby, but what the officer did next shocked her.

“Y’all I thought I was about to get in trouble or something for baby wearing while mowing but this sweet sheriff stopped and insisted on mowing my yard for me!!” Brindley wrote on her Facebook page.

The mother said she was so amazed at the act of kindness that she forgot to ask the officer’s name. Madison County Chief Deputy Dave Jernigan said the officer wished to remain anonymous, but noted the officer “went above and beyond” in his call to duty. Jernigan said this officer’s gesture was the ideal for community police work. The chief deputy said it also helps for officers to get out of the squad car and meet those they serve.

“Sometimes the car’s a barrier to the public and we encourage our deputies to step outside and make some encounters with the community other than being called to a scene,” Jernigan said.

Ryan Brindley said his wife isn’t the only one grateful for the officer’s generous act. He is also grateful to the officer for stopping to help his wife.

“It’s small in nature, but was a huge help to my wife today,” Ryan said.
