In a Labor Day tweet, Drudge Report creator Matt Drudge speculated that a behind-the-scenes Democrat alliance is behind the party’s suspiciously sparse presidential debate schedule.
Contrasting the GOP primary’s robust field of candidates and numerous debate dates, Democrat National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has garnered harsh criticism for scheduling just six debates. Furthermore, the first is still more than a month away while voting will already be underway when the final two debates occur.
Though much of the initial social media conjecture supported the idea that the party leader hoped to shield struggling front-runner Hillary Clinton, Drudge has a different theory.
@DWStweets@TheDemocrats So you’re holding 2 debates AFTER voting has already started? Make the attempts to coddle hillary less obvious, pls

Citing an ongoing push to recruit Joe Biden as Clinton’s replacement, Drudge asked if Schultz could have postponed the debates with that eventuality in mind.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz secretly rooting for Biden? Why she delayed debates? Terrific populist speech today from VP pic.twitter.com/1WPqQavMhT — MATT DRUDGE (@DRUDGE) September 7, 2015
His post sparked a spirited social media conversation overwhelmingly critical of any such concept. Adding Biden to the 2016 field, one Twitter user predicted, “will only make it easier for Hillary to win” as he attempts to “share the anti Hillary [sic] spot” with Bernie Sanders.
