(Before It's News)

The attorney group representing Kentucky clerk Kim Davis alleged in a Twitter post that a non-profit group bought a ‘Free Kim Davis’ domain in order to fool those supporting her.

The post from Liberty Counsel reads: “@hrc has bought the freekimdavis.com domain & pointed to donation pg to fool people #Deceptive #ConsumerFraud #FreeKimDavis.” The post refers to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), a liberal group that supports same-sex marriage. HRC was not involved in the domain purchase and had no connection to it, according to a spokesman for the non-profit organization.

It can’t be determined who purchased the domain name. The domain was purchased on Sept. 3, the day Davis was sent to jail on a contempt of court charge after she refused to issue any marriage licenses for Rowan County. Davis said she, as a Christian, couldn’t issue marriage licenses for same-sex couples, even though the U.S. Supreme Court issued its ruling in June in favor of homosexual marriage and after Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear sent a mandate to all clerks to issue the licenses. Davis was released from jail on Sept. 8.

The website reportedly directed visitors to HRC’s donation page. It is unknown whether those supporting Davis were fooled into giving money through the system. The site now redirects visitors to MarriageEquality.org, which promotes same-sex marriage.

The misdirect was discovered by Peter LaBarbera, founder of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality. He said the scheme was orchestrated by those supporting homosexual marriage.

“This is all part of the effort to ridicule Kim Davis,” LaBarbera told One News Now. “And to make fun of any Christian who opposes the Supreme Court’s imposition of homosexual marriage on the nation.”

It was also noticed by conservative groups that gay rights activists were posting comments regarding Davis’ arrest on Sept. 3 using the hashtag #freekimdavis. There is a website to support the embattled county clerk. Its domain is FreeKimDavis.net.
