(Before It's News)

Starbucks apologized to a Philadelphia cop after an employee in a local shop denied him access to the restroom. The apology hasn’t stopped customers from commenting in a viral social media post regarding the shop’s rude barista.

The incident reportedly happened Sept. 11 when a uniformed city police sergeant asked a barista for the key code to use the coffee shop’s bathroom, according to a Facebook post written by the officer. She said, very loudly, “that the bathroom is for paying customers only.” The police officer asked again and again was loudly denied by the barista, the post said.

The officer’s post of the details of the incident at the Starbucks at 13th and Chestnut Streets went viral and was shared thousands of times, thanks to the initial comment and share from fellow officer and friend of the sergeant, Joe Leighthardt. Leighthardt’s comment and initial share received more than 5,400 likes, more than 3,400 comments and more than 18,600 shares.

“I didn’t intend for it to go viral,” Leighthardt said. He said most everyone responding to him have been supportive.

Starbucks said they have personally apologized to the police officer and want to welcome him back into the store.

“We want everyone who visits our stores to enjoy their visit. This customer’s experience was not consistent with the welcoming and friendly environment we strive to create for everyone,” the company said in a statement in response to questions from a Philadelphia television station.

The company did not say what it will do to resolve the situation, and didn’t state whether the employee would face any type of discipline. Starbucks officials said they would be “taking all the necessary steps” to prevent a similar incident in the future.

“We are aware of this situation, and it is certainly not in line with the experience we want any of our customers to have in our stores,” the statement said.

  • Yawn…

  • um but isn’t starbucks a GUN FREE ZONE?? and cops carry what?? GUNS! GET OUT YOU PSYCHOPATH!

  • The cheapskate should of purchased a cup of Joe, problem solved.

  • I’d sooner drink mud than enter a “Four Bucks”

  • Well gee, American cops go around shooting people for fun. If he was too tight to buy a coffee, I’d make him piss his pants too.

  • Let the homeless live in all Starbucks

    Eat More GMO

  • Let’s see, who should I support in this instance, the regime’s goon enforcer that tortures and kills the public, or the evil, globalist corporation with Semiramis on their logo, who shills bad coffee for many times more than it’s worth?

  • GO TO HELL STARBCKS.

  • Going to be a very bad year for that coffee shop…..

  • I have never bought a cup of their ‘pancakes in liquid form’ at a cost of $7 a cup.

I can make pancakes and coffee at home for a great deal less expense and travel.

  • In the interest of fairness, many (if not most) coffee shops give free coffee to police. No matter where they go for their cuppa Joe, they’re not paying customers.

  • Many bars in New York will offer the first round of drinks to officers just getting off duty, for free. It insures that there is always plenty of ‘security’ in the building and creates a good relationship between the local police force and the owner of the establishments.
