Hours after a series of attacks that left dozens dead across Paris Friday, developing reports indicate the first suspect was arrested in connection with the deadly incident. According to Fox News, the suspect told authorities that he is “from ISIS.”

The apparent link to Islamic extremism came on the heels of witness reports affirming the gunmen involved shouted “Allah Akbar” as they fired on innocent civilians.

Barack Obama released a statement in which he expressed condolences for the French people and promised American assistance as the nation responds to the devastating attacks. In the end, though, he said he did not want to “speculate at this point in terms of who was responsible for this.”
