Hundreds of incredulous Twitter users reacted to a tweet Hillary Clinton’s account posted during Tuesday’s Republican presidential debate.
What’s really pro-family: Supporting equal pay, paid leave, affordable child care, and Planned Parenthood. #GOPdebate

In an apparent response to GOP candidates touting the importance of family, the Democrat front-runner’s campaign released a short list of ideas she considers “pro-family.” While there is some debate regarding issues like the gender wage gap, the point of contention most critics had with the tweet related to its mention of the nation’s most deadly abortion facilitator as an ostensible defender of the family. The reaction was swift, with outraged commenters lambasting what they considered an offensive position.
@HillaryClinton How can killing babies be pro-family by any stretch of the imagination. #PlannedParenthood is pure evil. #GOPDebate — John W. Wilson ن (@Expat_Patriot) November 11, 2015
Stupidest post on Twitter today and there are some crazy competitors but you win. Turn yourself in while you still can. @HillaryClinton

Some wondered if she has a firm grasp on the language – or reality.
@HillaryClinton Planned Parenthood is pro-family? What world do you live in? — em ✝ (@NorthernerBelle) November 11, 2015
@HillaryClinton I assume you’re using the term “family” in much the same way Charles Manson did. #DefundPP

Others believe her policies are motivated by something more sinister than ignorance.
.@gayle_lynne Unfortunately, for #Hillary, the other stuff is just words to get elected. PP is the one that really matters to Hill. — Mike aka Proof (@ProofBlog) November 11, 2015

Though Tuesday’s debate focused on fiscal issues, Marco Rubio was among the candidates able to weave a family narrative into the topic. In describing his proposed tax plan, the Florida senator declared family “the most important institution in the country.”
