Parents of children trick-or-treating in Germany might want to go with their children to their neighbor’s doors from now on. A video was released showing six little girls being tricked by a Muslim man to recite the Shahada after they came to his door asking for candy.
The Shahada is the Islamic creed that “bears witness” or “testifies” of the Muslim faith. It is a creed all converts must say to become a member of the Islamic community. It must be said in Arabic but is translated “There is no god but Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”
The Koran states that Mohammad vowed to fight anyone who does not recite the Shahada.
The video, which seems to be taken from the Muslim man’s perspective, shows the group at his door. There is a brief conversation about the name of the Halloween holiday before he encourages them to recite the Islamic creed with him in Arabic. The girls, oblivious to what the words mean, began giggling at their struggles in pronouncing the words in Arabic.
The video does not show the beginning of the man’s interaction with the children where he requires them to recite the Islamic creed, but it is apparent that he had already demanded this because the video records him saying “Well, we only celebrate…whatever, lets start,” before reciting the creed with the children.
The children, under Islamic law, still cannot be considered Muslims because Islamic law states the creed must be recited with a sincere heart. The video clearly shows that the young children, appearing to be under 12 years old, didn’t understand what they were saying.
