A Las Vegas man, tired of the stinking package thieves in his neighborhood, decided to give them a gift which matched their crime.
Eric Burdo told KTNV-TV that he had recently added surveillance cameras to his property, and he wanted to test their placement: he just needed a box to lure the thieves.
“One day I kind of just thought about cleaning up [his dog’s] poop and putting it in a box and that’s what I did,” Burdo reported.
The man put the box out on Sunday of last week, and the thieves came around last Thursday.
“Somebody had broken into the car when we first moved here,” the man stated. “That’s the main reason why I got the cameras.”
“[A] whopping 23 million Americans have had packages stolen from their homes before they could open them,” CNBC reports.
“If a shipping company fulfills their obligation and delivers the package the way that you paid for, you as the consumer are responsible for it if it’s stolen,” explains Laura Adams, senior insurance analyst for insuranceQuotes.com.
Burdo is hopeful the thieves will not try to, um, pull that crap anymore, but he encouraged his neighbors to use his technique to help lessen the appeal.

KTNV-TV reporter Michael Burton offered some friendly advice: “Don’t get your hands dirty. Leave that to the criminals.”
“It’s often said, ‘What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas,’ but something tells me this prank might become popular nationwide,” he added.
‘Don’t get your hands dirty.’
This statement is too ironic, whether coming from a praetorian or an oath-keeping, civil servant.
