At a campaign rally attended by an overflow crowd in Vermont, GOP frontrunner Donald Trump was vexed by a group supporting socialist Senator Bernie Sanders.
But without missing a beat, Trump decided to have some fun by offering one of the pro-Sanders crowd a chilly surprise.
The Trump rally was held in Burlington, the home turf of Sanders, who is vying for the Democratic nomination for president. A small but loud group of Sanders supporters snuck into the event and, at one point, tried their best to disrupt Trump as he spoke to the crowd.
But Trump wasn’t thrown off his game and even decided to make a joke of their attempt to disrupt his rally.
“Throw ’em out into the cold,” the real estate mogul ordered security.
Trump took the ribbing even farther adding, “Don’t give him his coat. Keep his coat, confiscate his coat.”
“It’s about 10 degrees below zero outside. You can keep his coat. Tell him we’ll send it to him in a couple of weeks,” Trump said.
The corporate leader and Republican frontrunner then addressed the crowd telling them how funny it all was.
“You know, it’s sort of fun. Isn’t this more exciting?,” Trump said to the crowd. “You know, you go to a Hillary thing. It’s like, boring. You go to a Jeb thing and you fall asleep.”
Trump: “I thought I heard a little voice over there. Alright, get em out. Take em out. Get em out of here. Yeah, don’t give him his coat. Don’t give him his coat. Keep his coat. Confiscate his coat. You know, it’s about 10 degrees below zero outside. No, you can keep his coat. Tell him we’ll send it to him in a couple weeks.”
The New York-native also raised eyebrows by having those who attended his event sign pledges to vote for Trump when the time came.
“We have more than 20,000 people that showed up for 1,400 spots. I’m taking care of my people, not people who don’t want to vote for me or are undecided,” Trump told NBC News. “They are loyal to me and I am loyal to them.”
