Last week, China’s Supreme Court handed down what will likely be a seminal antitrust ruling. In the case of Qihoo v. Tencent, Qihoo alleged that Tencent had violated China’s anti-monopoly law, in particular by alleging that Tencent had abused its dominance. This was the first anti-monopoly case heard by the Supreme Court and the Court used its decision to elaborate on many key antitrust law issues. By doing so, this case offers substantial guidance regarding China’s anti-monopoly laws.
