Buds Gun shop in Lexington sells around 600 guns on a normal day but that figure leapt to 2,000 the day after Obama beat Romney.
“It was the largest day that we’ve ever had, ” Buds owner Joe Murphy told WKYT.
Murphy noted that the spike in sales wasn’t solely down to Obama’s re-election and concerns over gun control, but that it was also related to fears of social unrest caused by a stuttering economy as well as an increased number of break-ins.
“We’re seeing a lot more first time handgun owners,” he added.
There was a similar story in Lubbock Texas, where Sharp Shooters Knife & Gun owner Charles Blackwell said first time gun owners helped boost his sales to 400 per cent above normal sales volumes.
Blackwell attributed some of the sales to the Obama administration’s resolve to pursue the United Nations Small Arms Treaty, which many gun rights enthusiasts have pointed to as a backdoor attempt to regulate firearms at the global level.

Meanwhile, in East Texas, Guns & Ammo owner Stephen Bayazes told KLTV that sales “were like Christmas” thanks to Obama’s re-election.
“We sold 26 firearms in a period of 12 hours, 40,000 rounds of ammunition, there’s no telling how many magazines, just phenomenal,” said Bayazes.
Bayazes adds that gun stores across the country are now stocking up in preparation for huge sales in anticipation of the White House pursuing draconian gun control legislation.
