A Credit-Card Sized Single Board Computer
Firstly apologize me for talking about some product that is proprietary.
That product is called “Raspberry pi’.
The Element 14 and RS components define raspberry pi as ”a credit-card sized single board computer that plugs into your TV and keyboard”.
This board lets you do things that you do on a regular PC stuffs like word processing, spreadsheets and games etc…. you use this device to play your HD videos.
This board encapsulates
Broadcom BCM2835 system on a chip(SOC) which includes a ARM1176JFZ-S 700GHz processor and there is a “Turbo” mode that that allows you to run up-to 1GHz without affecting the warranty.
A videocore IV GPU is used which allows to play BluRay quality videos using H.264 at 40Mb/s
The GPU is capable of 1Gpixel/s, 1.5Gtexel/s or 24 GFLOPs and the overall performance is similar to a 300GHz Pentium 2 processor .
They come with 256MB and 512MB RAM.
There is no internal memory which might seem as a disadvantage, so you will have to SD card for loading OS and store your data. SD cards upto 32Gb are compatible but a minimum of 4Gb seems comfortable.
The Debian and ARM Linux distribution for download. It also supports PYTHON as the main programming language with the support for BBC BASIC. It does not run WINE and using Android doesn’t seem to be stable.
Power over Ethernet is not available and you will have to only use power cord.
There are two models available there are simple name MODEL-A and MODEL-B.
For audio in and out you have a 3.5mm jack and supports sound over HDMI.
