HTC has come up with an upgraded version of the Desire 816G. The previous variant of the device was packed with a 1.3 GHz quad core processor and an internal storage of only 8 GB. Even after having some decent specs the device was a big let-down for people who require more space for their content. HTC resolved this problem by bringing in an upgraded model of the Desire 816G. The new model not only has an increased amount of internal storage but HTC also over-clocked the processor from 1.3 GHz to 1.7 GHz. The internal memory of the new model is 16 GB which can be further expanded up to 32 GB via a micro SD card.
Although, the previous version of the Desire 816G did has a slot for micro SD card the on-board storage was still limited to 8 GB only out of that only around 4-5 GB would have been available to the user. The Vice President and Country Head of HTC India, Faisal Siddiqui, commented at the event by saying, “The new offering under the HTC Desire series is our next step towards a power-packed combination of beautiful design and flagship performance all backed by a powerful 1.7GHz octa-core processor. The HTC Desire 816G is the best buy amongst big screen devices, packing a powerful performance and innovative design perfectly at a great price.”
Apart from the over-clocked processor and increased storage the rest of the specifications of the Desire 816G remain the same. It packs a 5.5 inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels having a pixel density of 267 ppi. It has 1 GB of RAM to handle multi tasking and it runs on HTC’s user interface, the Sense UI 6.0, on top of Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The primary camera on the device is a 13 MP shooter with auto focus and an LED Flash while the secondary camera is a 5 MP shooter and is capable to do video recording in 1080p. The HTC Desire 816G gets a non removable battery of 2600 mAh.
The new upgraded model of the Desire 816G will cost you Rs 1000 more than the outgoing model and is priced at Rs 19,990. It is available in two colors – white and black.
