Motorola grasped the smartphone market with its Moto G Gen 1 and Moto G Gen 2. These phones sold out brilliantly across the globe and took the company up in the list of smartphone manufacturers. Another device from Motorola was the Moto E which was an entry level budget smartphone providing a pure Android experience to users. Moto E didn’t take much time to spread around the world and it also sold in millions. While after the success of Moto G, Motorola came out with the second generation Moto G (Moto G Gen2), there hasn’t been a successor to the Moto E. There were rumors that Motorola is working on a second generation Moto E. Now, there is an alleged picture of the new Moto E that has surfaced up.
As we can see in the picture that the device isn’t a Moto G as it lacks a front facing speaker. Also, the absence of a rear LED flash points us to the new Moto E because the current Moto E also doesn’t have a LED flash. The navigation keys on the device are of Android Lollipop’s which tells us that the new Moto E could be running the latest Android version out of the box. The design of the handset remains identical to the current model. There is an addition of a front facing camera and the rear facing camera gets a design like that of the Moto X 2nd Generation.
Since the rumors of the new Moto E began popping up, its specifications were also guessed. It would feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 SoC (up from Snapdragon 200), 4.5 inch qHD display, and 1 GB of RAM. The current Moto E XT 1021 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset and Dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 CPU. It also has an Adreno 302 as its GPU. It has a 4.3 inch display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels and a pixel density of 256 ppi. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It provides a pure android experience and it will be upgraded to the latest Android Lollipop. It has 4 GB of internal memory which can be expanded by using a micro SD card up to 32 GB. The primary camera is a 5 MP shooter with no auto focus or LED flash. It has a non user replaceable 1980 mAh battery. Other basic features include WLAN, Bluetooth, GPS and Radio. It is available in 2 colors – black and white. It is sold via the online e-commerce website Flipkart. The Moto E is meant to provide the basic necessities of a smartphone at an affordable price.
