BlackBerry’s idea to move towards Android can be focused on lifting its revenues from device and software management zones. But, reports have been claiming that it might bring an unexpected reward for its device.
According to Rob Enderle, the owner of Enderle Group, “From the standpoint of marketing, this is a great way for BlackBerry to get visibility. It really doesn’t hurt them much, and the upside is high.” Till now, Enderle and other tech analysts have been agreeing with the fact that moving with two platforms will bring its own set of challenges for the company. Even for marketing purposes, Blackberry will have to invest its resources.
Enderle highlighted the importance of a compelling and well secured Android device, and said, “If Android has one significant weakness it is security and that’s just the thing that BlackBerry can fix, so it could play out pretty well and I am actually quite surprised that they did not try this sooner,”
Few days before, reports came flooding in that BlackBerry has been testing Android on its s slider phone. The device management system from the company, BES 12 has perfectly secured BlackBerry, Android, Apple, and Microsoft operating system.
Few years ago, BlackBerry had a huge share in smartphone industry, and was one toughest competitors for new players. But gradually, its market came down and dropped to mere 1%. Apple’s iPhones and rich selection of Android devices terminated BlackBerry’s rule from the smartphone industry. However, John Chen, an expert recruited to solve this decline has been giving great amount of efforts to bring BlackBerry back on track with its well defined software and device management business.
The hardware related business of BlackBerry is becoming irrelevant with the passage of time. The company has been trying hard to improve its position, but along with other sources, it still needs to generate revenues from hardware works.
Brian Colello, an analyst from BlackBerry commented on the situation, “It certainly makes sense for BlackBerry’s hardware business to experiment with Android. BlackBerry doesn’t have much to lose. There’s little downside and they just need one hit phone to justify the handset business.” BlackBerry’s secured Android device can just give the right lift to justify its power and efficiency in the smartphone industry.
