Reliance Jio Cheapest 4G Smartphone to be Launched
After a long gap, Billionaire Mukesh Ambani is set to take a leap into the Telecom market with the cheapest 4G smartphone coming by the end of this year. The device will cost around Rs.4000, while voice and data services will be offered at a reasonable price tag of Rs.300 to Rs.500.
Reliance Jio Infocomm will be launching 4G services by the end of this year. The company has been acquired at a cost of Rs.34,000 crore, and holds the largest footprint of liberalized spectrum in India.
At annual shareholders meet, Mukesh Ambani highlighted the fact that bringing affordable 4G smartphones into the market has been a top priority for Reliance Jio. He further commented that the combination of Jio’s initiatives and global supportive environment will play a big part bringing quality 4G phones at a price of Rs.4000 or less by the end of this year. Jio will also be bringing telecom, high speed data, digital commerce, media and payment services at a reasonable price of Rs.300 to Rs.500 for each month.
Amabani also mentioned that Jio is in a great position to establish itself as the No. #1 telecom operator, but this time, it’s not just Telecom services which the company is targeting. He commented, “We followed an integrated business strategy from the very beginning, and today, Jio is capable of offering a unique combination of telecom, high speed data, digital commerce, media and payment services,”
The first mobile app from Reliance Jio, “Jio Chat” was launched in the month of April, packing a nice a platform to integrate chat, video calling, voice calling, fie and media sharing services. The app received a tremendous response, and features among top apps with more than a million active users. The company plans on bringing an array of mobile applications in the upcoming week to cater diverse user requirements with full proficiency.
The owner of Reliance also highlighted the fact that Jio deployed a network of almost 250,000 route kilometers of fibre optics, and is set to double the results real soon. He claims that by next year, more than 1 million homes will be connected by Jio via fibre optics.
He further mentioned that Reliance Jio is also working on the digital money and payment system for the digitalization of payments in India.
