After protesting for one month against the beginning of trial, Former Telecom Minister Mr. A. Raja had today opened his defence with the cross examination of key C.B.I (Central Bureau of Investigation) witness Mr. Aseervatham Achary, Achary was the former additional private secretary of A.Raja.
Mr. Raja had cancelled his protest as the Central Bureau of Investigation had filed its third charge sheet on 12th of this December against the Essar & Loop and also their promoters.The cross examination of Mr. Achary was interrupted for some time after he told the judge about the threat to his life from a man sitting in the court, later the man had left the courtroom but was arrested by the Delhi Police personnel from the court premises & he was produced before the judge after which he was handed over to police.
At the start of the trial that had started on November 11 of this year, the former telecom minister had told to the Special CBI Judge Mr. O.P. Saini, who is hearing the case, that he wouldn’t cross examine the witnesses until CBI files its 3rd charge sheet and makes a statement that its investigation in the case was finished.
During the one & a half month of trial in 2G case, totally 6 witnesses had already deposed and the cross examination of Mr. Aseervatham Achary is now in process.
