A leopard that wandered into a city in eastern India went on a rampage, killed a man, panicked and attacked four people and ripped off the part of another man’s scalp. A wild, full grown leopard attacks after walked into a house in a busy neighbourhood of Guwahati, a large city in the northern state of Assam, India.
Man, whose scalp is severely cut as he tries to fight off the leopard, is identified as a cook named Hari. One another man shut the animal inside the house before forest officials came. Later Hari was taken to hospital for injuries to his head and face, while the animal was tranquilized by wildlife officials and taken to the state zoological park.
According to a local report, the leopard ventured into a crowded area and injured four people before it was captured and caged.
Residents in city stated that the big animal attacked a 50 years old lawyer as he talked on his mobile phone outside his home. He was rushed to hospital but later died.
An official of forest department told, “We believe that cat strayed into area from a nearby hillock may be in search of food.”
Conservationists told deforestation has increasingly pushed leopards into populated areas.
