At least 17 people were killed and 40 others were wounded in a terrorist attack on Tuesday by armed Islamists on a military base in Mali in northwest Africa. In the attack on the base and the nearby area, the terrorists opened fire with automatic weapons, threw hand grenades and explosive devices, and burned houses and stores. The assault occurred in Nampala near Mali's border with Mauritania.
