(Before It's News)

DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. November 17, 2016, 5:43 PM (IDT)

The US director of national intelligence, James Clapper, announced on Thursday morning (US local time) that he had resigned. Clapper was quoted as saying in an interview with NBC that over 50 years of service “is more than enough”. The Office of the Director of National Intelligence is a relatively new body established in 2005 following the passage of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004. Its roles include advising the president and the National Security Council on intelligence maters related to national security as well as management of the country's 16 intelligence bodies and the national intelligence plan.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
