A Japanese citizen posted on an internet forum that the person’s charcoal put in kettle became rainbow-colored.

The charcoal was used to purify tapwater in kettle. The location was in Tokyo.

The posting date was 2/23/2012. The person said the charcoal was used for 3 months, but it became rainbow-colored sooner and sooner.

It is assumed that the charcoal absorbed something in tapwater however radiation level and nuclide analysis were not posted.
